FAQ

Why are cups to grams different for each ingredient?

A cup measures volume, a gram measures weight. Dense ingredients such as honey or sugar weigh more per cup than light ones such as cocoa powder or almond flour, so every ingredient needs its own conversion.

How many grams are in a cup of flour?

About 125 grams of all-purpose flour per US cup when spooned and levelled. Bread flour is about 127 g, whole wheat about 120 g and cake flour about 114 g.

Which cup size do these charts use?

The US customary cup of 236.6 ml. Metric cups (250 ml) used in Australia and New Zealand are about 5.7% larger, and a UK imperial cup is 284 ml.
