Words appear one at a time. If you have already seen the word in this run, press SEEN. If it is the first time, press NEW. Three wrong answers and the run is over.
This test checks short-term word recognition. Each word is picked either from the words you have already seen or from a fresh pool of common English words. As the list of seen words grows, it gets harder to tell whether a word is really new. Your best score is saved in this browser only.
| Words | Rating |

These bands are rough guides, not a clinical test.
Words are shown one at a time. For each word you press SEEN if it already appeared earlier in the run, or NEW if it is the first time. A wrong answer costs one of three strikes.
Most people score between 20 and 50 words. Scores above 100 are very strong. The pool of words is limited, so repeats get more common as you go.
Link each new word to a mental image or a short story with the previous words. Staying relaxed and avoiding rushing also helps.
