How the date works
Good Friday is the Friday before Easter Sunday, two days earlier. Because Easter moves between March 22 and April 25, Good Friday falls between March 20 and April 23.
It is a public holiday in the UK, Canada (federal and most provinces), Australia, New Zealand, Germany and many other countries. In the United States it is not a federal holiday, though some states, schools and stock-market schedules treat it specially, so check locally.
Orthodox Churches use a different calculation, so Orthodox Good Friday is often on a different date.
