Regular pay = rate × regular hours. Overtime pay = rate × multiplier × overtime hours. Total pay is the sum of the two, before tax.
Example: at 20 an hour with 40 regular hours and 6 overtime hours at time and a half, regular pay is 800, the overtime rate is 30, overtime pay is 180 and the total is 980.
Overtime paid at 1.5 times your normal hourly rate. In the US, the federal minimum for most non-exempt employees is time and a half for hours worked over 40 in a week. Some states and employers pay more, or count daily overtime, so check your contract.
Before tax. Deductions and withholding are not included.
