The calculator subtracts the start time from the end time and then removes your unpaid break. If the end time is earlier than the start time, it assumes you worked past midnight, so 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours. Decimal hours convert minutes into a fraction of an hour (for example 7 h 30 min = 7.5 h), which is the format most payroll and timesheet systems want.
Example: 09:00 to 17:30 with a 30 minute break is 8 hours, or 8.00 decimal hours. At $20 an hour that is $160.
