What height Christmas tree fits your room? Enter your ceiling height and allowances for the stand and topper. Tree heights are sold in half-foot steps, so the result is rounded down to the nearest 6 inches.
| Ceiling | Tallest tree | Full tree width |
|---|
With a 6-inch stand, a 10-inch topper and 2 inches of clearance, the tallest tree that fits under an 8 ft (96 in) ceiling is 78 inches, so a 6.5 ft tree. Without a tall topper a 7 ft tree usually fits.
Using the same allowances (6-inch stand, 10-inch topper, 2 inches spare), a 9 ft (108 in) ceiling fits a tree up to 90 inches, which is a 7.5 ft tree.
Width depends on the shape. Full trees are often around 60 to 70 percent as wide as they are tall (about 50 to 60 inches for 7 ft), slim trees around 40 to 50 percent and pencil trees around 25 to 35 percent. Check the listed width of the actual tree.
