The mean is the sum divided by the count. The median is the middle value once the numbers are sorted (or the mean of the two middle values when there is an even count). The mode is the value that appears most often. The range is the maximum minus the minimum.
Example: for 12, 7, 3, 7, 21, 15 the sum is 65 and the count is 6, so the mean is 10.83. Sorted: 3, 7, 7, 12, 15, 21, so the median is (7 + 12) ÷ 2 = 9.5. The mode is 7 and the range is 18.
All three describe the “center” of a data set. The mean uses every value, the median is the middle one and is less affected by outliers, and the mode is the most common value.
