How the date works
St Patrick’s Day is always March 17, so the weekday changes every year.
It is a public holiday in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Check local rules for substitute days when it falls on a weekend.
Many cities, including New York and Chicago, hold parades on or near the day. When March 17 falls on a Sunday some parades move to the Saturday, so check the local schedule.
