Each line is one item. Alphabetical sorting compares lines using your language's rules, so accents and capital letters land where you would expect. Numeric sorting reads the first number found in each line, which puts 2 before 10 (a plain A to Z sort would put 10 first).
Alphabetical order compares character by character, and "1" comes before "2". Choose "Numbers, low to high" to sort by value instead.
