How much candy do you need for trick-or-treaters? Enter how many kids you expect, how many pieces each one gets and how many pieces come in a bag, and get the number of bags to buy.
Check the piece count printed on your bag: variety and fun-size bags differ a lot. Leave price at 0 to skip the cost.
| Kids | 1 piece each | 2 pieces each | 3 pieces each |
|---|
Pieces needed including 15% spare. Divide by the pieces in your bag.
Multiply the number of trick-or-treaters you expect by the pieces you give each child, add 10-20% extra, then divide by the pieces in one bag. For example 100 kids x 2 pieces = 200 pieces plus 15% = 230 pieces, or 6 bags of 40.
The best guide is your own count from last year. Otherwise ask neighbours, and expect more on a weekend evening, in dense streets with sidewalks and in good weather.
Turn off the porch light, which is the usual signal that a house is done for the night. Keeping a spare bag or some non-candy treats like stickers also helps.
