How to convert 1.2 to a fraction

  1. 1.2 has one decimal place, so write it over 10 (a 1 followed by 1 zero) with the decimal point removed: 1.2 = 12/10.
  2. Find the greatest common divisor of 12 and 10: it is 2.
  3. Divide both by 2: 12 ÷ 2 = 6 and 10 ÷ 2 = 5.
  4. The answer is 6/5.
