How the conversion works

Women's sizes follow fixed offsets from the US size: UK and Australia = US + 4, EU (German) = US + 32, France = US + 34, Italy = US + 36 and Japan = US + 3 (Japanese sizes are often listed as 5, 7, 9, 11). Letter sizes are approximate: US 0-2 is XS, 4-6 is S, 8-10 is M, 12-14 is L, 16-18 is XL, and 20-22 is XXL.
